Recreation Vehicle Sales Development Code Amendment
Consultation has concluded
The applicant requests review and recommendation of a proposed amendment to Chapter 12 and 39 of the Development Code. The main change is to add the clarification that indoor powersports and marine vehicle sales are part of the Retail Sales, General use. The Code currently would consider powersports and marine vehicle sales as automobile sales and rental, but Staff felt that these uses should be considered separately after a discussion with a property owner.
Also, included were some provisions to minimize any potential negative impacts of allowing indoor sales. The extra provisions added to Chapter 12 include a limit on the outdoor display pads for the indoor sales. The decision after looking at other cities was to allow two display pads per 100 linear feet of property frontage. The Fire Marshal requested some requirements to prevent tampering or safety issues as well with the batteries.
The DRC reviewed the proposed changes and had three redline comments. These comments have been incorporated into the Development Code Amendment draft included in the Planning Commission packet.
