Consultation has concluded
Lehi City requests review and recommendation of a Development Code amendment pertaining to Portable Storage Containers in Chapters 12, 26, and the Table of Uses for residential and nonresidential zones. A breakdown of the proposed revisions in each chapter is given below.
Chapter 12 – Development Standards
The amendment to Chapter 12 proposes to remove several sections that currently regulate the portable storage container use. One of the primary changes is to allow them in all zones. Additionally, it specifies that they cannot be stacked in residential zones and that all containers must be located behind the front of the main structure.
There are no specific provisions relating to length of time allowed or the number of portable storage containers, but Chapter 26 does include a provision that limits accessory buildings to no more than 30 percent of the rear yard of any lot or parcel.
Chapter 26 – Accessory Uses, Buildings and Structures
The amendment to Chapter 26 proposes to remove all regulations on portable storage container shed conversions. This amendment will remove requirements to cover the storage container in an approved building material and to add a roof feature.
Table 05-030-A & B (Table of Uses- Residential & Nonresidential Zones)
The amendment changes the Portable Storage Container use to be permitted in every zone, both residential and nonresidential.
