The Planning Commission provided a positive recommendation and this will go to City Council on August 9th for approval.

City Staff is recommending a Development Code Amendment to change the public hearing requirements for concept plans. Currently all concept plans require a public hearing. Even though site plans and final subdivisions do not. These types of decisions are administrative, meaning if they meet the Code they have to be approved. Having a public hearing gives residents and the Planning Commission they idea that they can provide feedback beyond the Code requirements which is not within the legal scope of those approvals.

This change will still require a public hearing for concept plans for Planned Unit Developments (PUD), Planned Residential Developments (PRD), Planned Communities (PC), and if the applicant requests any exceptions. These are all requests that do not have to be approved.
