This item was approved by the Planning Commission. 

The applicant requests approval of a public dance hall conditional use for the Heart of Country Swing. The proposed use will go inside an existing building located at 3940 North Traverse Mountain Boulevard. The existing building is used for office space as well as receptions.

The Traverse Mountain Area Plan designates Public Dance Halls as a conditional use. As a conditional use the Planning Commission may place reasonable conditions on the use to mitigate against potential nuisance to neighboring uses. The only time the Commission could deny a conditional use is if significant harm would be caused to surrounding properties that cannot be mitigated against in a reasonable way.

The proposed dance hall use will only take place on Tuesday nights from 7pm to 12am. It will include instruction and dance time. The DRC had one comment related to the hours of operation and the potential for a disturbance to the neighbors.
