Consultation has concluded
Lehi City is asking for a review and recommendation to update Chapter 12 of the Development Code to clarify when barbed wire can be used.
Currently, barbed wire is allowed in certain zones, like A-5, A-1, RA-1, I, and LI. Since there are no more Industrial (I) areas in the city, the proposed change will remove this zone and add Public Facility (PF) areas where barbed wire is already being used.
The update will also explain that barbed wire can only be used in these zones for farming or security reasons. It will also allow temporary use of barbed wire for construction. The amendment will clearly say that razor wire is not allowed unless it is needed for safety.
Barbed wire is required by state and federal laws around things like private irrigation ponds, power stations, and other dangerous areas. This change will make the use of barbed wire in these places official and help meet safety rules.
